It would be funny if it wasn't true
It isn't. Populations are fleeing Africa and the middle east because they need jobs to make money to buy the necessities of life and the leaders who run the country have, like the U. S. adopted an economic system that allows them to redistribute wealth unevenly. As the population explodes and these countries either adopt a welfare system insufficient to reach all of their needy population who are unemployed they reach a point where the food supply cannot support the largess being dispense.
China on the other hand has a population that exceeds their food production so they import what they can with the dollars they earn from their trade surplus. They recognize this will ultimately not be enough so they are buying up land in Africa to grow crops reversing the trend to family farms fostered by leaders like Mugabe and returning them to the higher production of the factory farms once owned by the British. On investigation I think you might find China behind the ownership of some of our own farms.
The World's food supply can support all that are here but it is not equally distributed either by country or within countries. We have over 50 million of our own population on food stamps and EBT cards and we still have those suffering from malnutrition and dependent on food banks because they escape the government welfare net by not qualifying.
Unfortunately, that food supply is diminishing in relation to the population as it takes about 1 acre of arable land to feed each individual. We stopped expanding our land base and reached the maximum yield per acre of nearly every crop, particularly those rich in food value. That land base is gradually but inexorably disappearing as we build more new houses, malls, stadiums and golf courses, roads, etc.
1) "Free people aren't equal; equal people aren't free." Which does pmcon prefer?
3) Yup; a quick look at Google earth shows how little land is left undeveloped. Just look at Maine; if it wasn't for "Land for Maine's Future", we'd be LA County east.
The only near equality that people share is the amount of fuel required to sustain life. If we had an economic system based on that fact we would all be better off. There would be no poor and there would be no millionaires.
Darwin's theories have yet to be disproven.
Do you still beat your wife?
Glad you stopped beating yours.
But I haven't. So There.
