The home where Ethan Allen spent his final years with wife, Fanny, and children fell victim to a drop in donations, an unsure future.
Ethan Allen is perhaps the most well-known/important historical figure in Vermont. The landmark has never been an official state historic site.
To state historic preservation officer Jane Lendway, there's no question Ethan Allen is a key figure in Vermont history. That doesn't mean his home should be a state historic site.
