[b]Turnpike Workers Dues Deduction Halted[/b]

A federal judge has sided with 20 Pennsylvania Turnpike workers trying to quit their union in a case that could have implications for thousands of public-sector employees in the state.
U.S. District Judge Christopher Conner issued a preliminary injunction Monday preventing the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission or Teamsters Local No. 77 from deducting dues from their wages or disciplining them under the union contract.
[i]The National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation Inc., representing the workers, said the case showed the need for a state law making union dues payments voluntary.[/i]
