Most Mainers want to pay less taxes. Period. The validity of that statement was punctuated yesterday as I travelled the polls in York County assisting the signature collectors for the TaxpayerBillofRights.com effort to limit government spending. Many people, who did not support the property tax cap, were eager to have a say on all future big tax increases.I would encourage all those who want to put reasonable restrictions on government spending in Maine to support the Taxpayer Bill of Rights. We got a great jump on the signature collecting yesterday!I want to take this opportunity to publicly thank those who worked tirelessly at the polls for this worthwhile effort. Your work yesterday will mark the beginning of the end of runaway spending increases at all levels of government in the State of Maine. With this effort, our legislators will see how overwhelming the support is for spending controls.Thank you to those who helped!Thank you to those who signed! And, Thank you to Mary Adams for leading this important effort!
