A compromise on school consolidation early Wednesday morning paved the way for the expected passage of a $6.3 million budget with a rare degree of bipartisan support.
Yes, the budget is up 7.8 percent over two years, but when the cost of the final ramp-up in state education funding to 55 percent is removed, that increase is less than 4 percent over two years.
