PRESS RELEASEJune 12th, 2003 @ NoonFROM: Jeff Weinstein, MGOA PresidentNew Maine Gun Owners Association OrganizedIn response to an increasing need to vigilantly protect and defend the rights and opportunities for Maine gun owners to keep, bear, and use firearms, the Maine Gun Owners Association Inc (MGOA) was recently incorporated.According to Jeff Weinstein of Yarmouth, the organization's president, ongoing pressures from aggressive anti-gun forces that are active in some parts of Maine are incrementally threatening the rights of gun owners to use firearms for self-defense, hunting, and recreational purposes. Weinstein and other MGOA members have determined that a new homegrown grass-roots organization, one that has the energy, focus, and resources to combat encroachment on gun owners rights, is necessary in Maine. MGOA has established a WEBSite, www.MGOA.com, in support of its organizational goals. MGOA's telephone number is 207-846-3000."We hope to make it clear to non-gun-owners Maine that the firearms community in Maine is exceedingly responsible and practices safe gun-handling while engaged in typical shooting activities", said Weinstein. "We expect to work closely with other organizations that support gun owners' rights, such as the National Rifle Association (NRA) and the Sportsman's Alliance of Maine (SAM), in the continuing process of promoting the safest sport in America," he added.Weinstein is also president of the Yarmouth Rod & Gun Club and recently completed a two-year term as president of the Pine Tree State Rifle & Pistol Association, the NRA's statewide competitive shooting branch in Maine.Weinstein, an active NRA Certified Training Counselor (Instructor Trainer) and International Class Rifle Coach, runs the most active ongoing civilian firearms training programs in the state. Information about the firearms instruction programs can be acquired at the WEBSite www.FirearmSafety.net.

Re: PRESS RELEASE: New Maine Gun Owners Association Organize

Several newspapers have already published elements of our Press Release issued yesterday, 6/12/03. I anticipate that others will do so over the next several days, including the weeklies. Also, radio and television mentions either have already appeared or will imminently be aired.I ask the AMG community to send....by scanned E-Mail attachment to PublicAffairs@MGOA.com, FAX to 846-0900, or by regular postal mail to MGOA, PO Box 373, Yarmouth ME 04096...copies of printed stories published by your local media. Also, reports of on-air stories run by radio and television stations would be appreciated. We're in the process of building a media file that would be helpful in thanking those media organizations that kindly run our Press Releases, and we don't want to leave unrecognized any media outlet, no matter what their size. Thanks!Jeff Weinstein, President
