I read your post, it is just incomplete. Fore very one of these "principaled" votes were scores on other weapons systems that we most assuredly need and use today.

FoxNews is reporting this... when and where did Kerry say it... what does Kerry know about Bush's service record, and vice versa?

The problem is not with Kerry's service record. That is great. The problem is, the Kerry service record is mostly bogus.Kerry wants to argue fake hero with real hum drum.

Re: Kerry to Bush, "Wanna' debate service records? Brin

This is John Kerry AGAIN being ridiculous!!He should be saying bring it on to the men who are claiming they have the truth about Kerry.A real man would take it to the source if he knew it wasn't true but he is blaming President Bush. His RIDICULOUS claim that Prez Bush must not be against the swift vets because he hasnt denounced them (and he did denounce them) is as off as saying President Bush has never openly denounced traffic jams - he must be for them. Or maybe President Bush hasn't ever said he is against brocolli and cheese potatoes from Wendy's so he must be for them . You get what I mean.

Re: Kerry to Bush, "Wanna' debate service records? Brin

Thurlows response:For Immediate Release
August 19, 2004 Statement By Swift Boat Veterans for Truth Member Larry Thurlow I am convinced that the language used in my citation for a Bronze Star was
language taken directly from John Kerry's report which falsely described the
action on the Bay Hap River as action that saw small arms fire and automatic
weapons fire from both banks of the river. To this day, I can say without a doubt in my mind, along with other accounts
from my shipmates-there was no hostile enemy fire directed at my boat or at
any of the five boats operating on the river that day. I submitted no paperwork for a medal nor did I file an after action report
describing the incident. To my knowledge, John Kerry was the only officer
who filed a report describing his version of the incidents that occurred on
the river that day. It was not until I had left the Navy-approximately three months after I left
the service-that I was notified that I was to receive a citation for my
actions on that day. I believed then as I believe now that I received my Bronze Star for my
efforts to rescue the injured crewmen from swift boat number three and to
conduct damage control to prevent that boat from sinking.
My boat and several other swift boats went to the aid of our fellow swift
boat sailors whose craft was adrift and taking on water. We provided
immediate rescue and damage control to prevent boat three from sinking and
to offer immediate protection and comfort to the injured crew. After the mine exploded, leaving swift boat three dead in the water, John
Kerry's boat, which was on the opposite side of the river, fled the scene.
US Army Special Forces officer Jim Rassmann, who was on Kerry's boat at the
time, fell off the boat and into the water. Kerry's boat returned several
minutes later-under no hail of enemy gunfire-to retrieve Rassmann from the
river only seconds before another boat was going to pick him up. Kerry campaign spokespersons have conflicting accounts of this incident-the
latest one being that Kerry's boat did leave but only briefly and returned
under withering enemy fire to rescue Mr. Rassmann. However, none of the
other boats on the river that day reported enemy fire nor was anyone wounded
by small arms action. The only damage on that day was done to boat three-a
result of the underwater mine. None of the other swift boats received damage
from enemy gunfire. And in a new development, Kerry campaign officials are now finally
acknowledging that while Kerry's boat left the scene, none of the other
boats on the river ever left the damaged swift boat. This is a direct
contradiction to previous accounts made by Jim Rassmann in the Oregonian
newspaper and a direct contradiction to the "No Man Left Behind" theme
during the Democratic National Convention. These ever changing accounts of the Bay Hap River incident by Kerry campaign
officials leave me asking one question. If no one ever left the scene of the
Bay Hap River incident, how could anyone be left behind?

Kerry is a fake. Bush is the real deal. Being called on his proven false record is apparently getting to Kerry, especially when he cannot refute the truth.

If it had been Bush in Vietnam and Kerry the stateside "dodger", you guys would be telling us what a "hero" Kerry is for having the courage to stay home or awol or whatever. Never heard similar vitriol for Clinton's dodge. Fact is it's all ancient history; I don't care about either case, but Kerry is the one who had made it an issue. After all, he's made a career of dressing his "image", he damn well expects to now be able to make use of it!I do care that all evidence points to the fact that Kerry's persona is a construct, that his history is fiction. Even his friends acknowledge his pathological fascination with attempting to become the prematurely reincarnated Jack Kennedy. From the PT-like boat to the mock life-saving, to the initials... it's just downright scary! He's spent so much time trying to become someone else that he's become nothing but a cipher. He's not so much a candidate as a vessel in which is party pours its collective wisdom, which is driven by polls. The problem for him, and even more for them, is that he can't keep it straight.
I take the real person with the DUI over the artifical construct anyday. Thanks.

The implosion has begun. All the major networks were finally forced to carry this as they're lead story . Apparently Kerry is now forced to address this mess he's made because polls show support for him dropping like a rock. I believe it was ABC or CBS that reported veteran support for Bush is now at 55% and 37% Kerry. This oughtta be good.

I wonder if Kerry will be as persuasive in debate as that strategic genius, Al Gore? I loved it when Gore tried that bizzar bit where, when Bush was about to answer a question, Gore stepped around his podium and walked up to Bush in pathetic attempt to rattle Bush. Bush just looked at Gore for 2 seconds as if Gore was having some kind of breakdown, then went on to answer the question, leaving Gore standing there like an idiot. Oh, yes, bring it on indeed. We could use more of that. Perhaps his Democrat handlers will get Kerry to yell, "Choke! Choke!" under his breath while Bush speaks. Yep, can't wait.

Hey Wingman! You're missing the point. It's not about medals it's the fact that Kerry lied to get his medals and it's turning people off.

If the act of contortion was an Olympic sport, the Dems would get a Gold...but I digress.Hey, I think I just heard Wingman call in to the Lars Larson show, only he was imitating a woman!Ms. Wingness said (get read for the contort) "It's Bush's LACK of service that caused Kerry to make his service in Vietnam such a big issue in this race."Ah HAAAAA! Seeeeeee? It really IS Bush's fault. :D

As asked on the Rush Limbaugh show today..."Does anyone recall off the top of their heads the medals earned by former Sen. Dole or former Pres. George H. W. Bush during WWII?"The answer to that is "NO". Why do we not recall?Because both those men didn't make their military service an issue.

Issue Date: March 31, 2003New medals
Two awards created for service during war on terrorism
President Bush signed an executive order March 12 establishing two new awards for actions in the global war on terrorism. The Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal recognize “sacrifices and contributions” military members make in the global war on terrorism, White House officials said.
The Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal will be awarded to service members who take part in expeditions to combat terrorism on or after Sept. 11, 2001, such as Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. The Global War on Terrorism Service Medal will be awarded to service members who serve in operations to combat terrorism on or after Sept. 11, 2001, such as Operation Noble Eagle and efforts to safeguard military and civilian facilities with the United States. The awards, which can be given posthumously, do not replace the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal or the Armed Forces Service Medal. “Any member who qualified for those medals by reason of service in operations to combat terrorism between September 11, 2001, and a terminal date to be determined by the Secretary of Defense, shall remain qualified for those medals,” the executive order states. “Upon application, any such member may be awarded either the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal or the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal in lieu of the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal or the Armed Forces Service Medal.” Defense and service officials are drafting guidelines for awarding the medals.

:D Why not share with us what medals you have? You earned them the old-fashioned way, didn't you? Are you embarassed of them or did you throw yours over the wall, too? ;)

We didn't do nuthin' to Cleland... he blew HIMSELF up...Which is worse... no medals, or medals you had to lie about to get? OK, Kerry probably didn't lie. But you haven't been in the service if you don't think the truth was stretched in the combat reports.I think the problem is that while everyone stretched the truth while in theater, they see it as unforgivable to come back Stateside and lie in front of Congress, to be such an obvious political opportunist, demagogue...At least Kerry wasn't an opportunist in his personal life... does he get a medal for that? The most dollars scored from an ex-Republican.That's my take...[ 08-19-2004: Message edited by: billPhillips ]

Re: Kerry to Bush, "Wanna' debate service records? Brin

George Bush deserves a medal of honor unlike the dishonorable liar J*fn*Kerry. Old "Wingboy" forgets he supports "OUI" Kennedy. George Bush didn't kill anyone when he drove drunk. George Bush didn't shoot anyone in the back. George Bush didn't lie to make himself a hero. J*fn*Kerry is using Viet-Nam for political gain and his four months of disservice tells us all we need to know about him and anyone who supports him. Hear my salute to President Bush "Wingboy" -- "Here's to those who wish us well and them that don't can go to hell". HOORAHHHHHHHHHHHH
