FARMINGTON -- The former MBNA building in downtown Farmington, vacant since last spring, has been purchased by Greater Franklin Development Corp. with plans to find a tenant that will bring in new jobs.

The purchase agreement, signed Sunday and announced Monday, represents a collaboration between Greater Franklin; the seller, Bank of America; Maine's Department of Economic and Community Development; and Franklin Savings Bank.

"Bank of America reported a 31% drop in third-quarter profit last week as trading losses and a hit from loans backing leveraged buyouts nearly wiped out the company's investment-banking income"

Wonder if any will be in Maine?
