Googled her and couldn't come up with any hits. I just like to see how the anti-TABOR people are connected to government money. Anyone know this person?

[quote]Readfield Elementary School staff members Nancy Moorman, Bob Nazlian, Kelly Dooling, Donna Dachs and Stephanie Nichols received three service learning grants of $300 each to assist in student education in the community and their follow-up service learning projects. These will fund work with the fifth grade Recycling Ferrets, a grade 4 project with the Mt. Vernon Food Pantry and a grade 5 project with their community partner, the Good Shepherd Food Bank.

It comes as no surprise, but every letter writer invariably is getting a check from the government.

Correct - I have yet to see a real grassroots letter of opposition. They're all in the trough.

There's only one Donna Dachs in Maine per my info. And you can add a 3rd D to her name.

Hard to find folks who dont work for the state of Maine or for a business funded by the state of Maine, etc in the greater Augusta area. Manchester, Readfield, Farmingdale, Vassalbor, and several other towns are populated by state, local goverment employees.

Yup, that's the one - a teacher in Readfield last I knew. She received the same letter from the MEA that Shandier shared with us and which was believed probably by the 90% sheep-members who belong to the MEA. She has been active in union affairs over the years. Formerly (many years ago) married to a Joe Pietroksi who knew enough to get out of teaching and go on to other things. I'd say she's doing just what the MEA hoped she'd do. Sad really when teachers could have a positive effect on society.

No one should be surprised that Ms. Sachs is a teacher at the Readfield Elementary School and is also a member of the Maine Education Association's Government Relations Committee. Apparently part of MEA's plan to defeat the Taxpayer Bill of Rights is to urge their membership to write letters to the editor that foment "FUDD". Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt, and Deception.
The Taxpayer Bill of Rights WILL allow government at ALL levels to grow in accordance with the ability of the "wagon pullers" to pay.

A very warm welcome to AMG, Mr. Inch - and many thanks for your support of the Taxpayer Bill of Rights, and your letter to the editor.

Hey Mr. Inch, how about you moving to North Yarmouth and becoming a selectman here? We could use this sort of common sense in this bastion of liberalism.

I have known Donna Dachs for several years, although have not seen had much communication with her in the last 5 or 6 years. I can tell you she has always been fiscally conservative, but I think you also have to give someone credit for 35 years of teaching and seeing first hand the complicated needs of kids that are now mainstreamed into regular classrooms. I don't think her paycheck, no matter what the source, is a handout, nor do I think she is afraid of losing her income due to Tabor. Ms. Dachs has won several awards for outstanding teaching accomplishments, she is dedicated to her students.

debpoulin, welcome to AMG.

I am curious. Why did you resurrect a 2 1/2 year old thread to defend an individual about whom most have forgotten?

Well maybe because I just found it. Also, I know this person is not a liberal nor is she even demacrat, just wanted to set the record straight.
