Many years ago kids in our neighborhood and everywhere else used to play "cowboys and indians", Batman, Superman, things like that. I can still remember running around with a cape that my mother made from an old bed sheet, a Batman mask and a homemade wooden sword, chasing imaginary "bad guys" around the yard.
That was, of course, long before these games were replaced by today's electronic devices and fantasy games.
But we eventually outgrew these childish games and went on to high school and college, and earning a living, and raising a family, and pursuing normal, adult lives. I don't remember anyone over about 12 years old still pretending to be Tom Mix killing the bad guys, let alone bragging about how good he was at it. Not to mention even carrying the threat into the realm of real life.
How times have changed. I suppose some would call it progress.
Maine People Before Politics
The MPBP Media Accountability Project has exposed the Bangor Daily News website being used as a fundraising tool by a staffer for a PAC, and at the same time, exposed Senate candidate Colleen Lachowicz for using her "Clean Elections" resources to solicit contributions for the same PAC.
M.A.P.: Tipping Crosses Line, Uses BDN Blog As Political Fundraising Tool For Maine People’s Alliance, Senate Democrats
Well. Imagine that.
Reprinted with permission.
The blog post in question, titled Maine GOP Attack On WoW Playing Candidate Fizzles by Maine People’s Alliance communications director Mike Tipping (writing as a BDN blogger) contains a link that directs readers to an Act Blue political contribution page where readers can contribute to the Maine People’s Alliance “MPA Campaign Vote!” which is legally registered with the Maine Ethics Commission as a PAC, or contribute to the Maine Senate Democratic Campaign Committee.
To briefly summarize, Tipping is using his position as a BDN blogger to redirect readers to make a contribution to a political action committee he works for.
Perhaps worse, the link Tipping actually uses to push readers to contribute to the Maine People’s Alliance first goes to the campaign page of Senate District 25 candidate Colleen Lachowicz.
Lachowicz, a “Clean Elections” candidate for Maine Senate, is using her taxpayer funded campaign website to solicit private contributions which she is forbidden to accept directly, and asking those contributions be made to a PAC which she is forbidden by law to coordinate with.
Agreed. In addition, the comments that Lachowicz made regarding Gov. LePage's youth indicate a calloused and disparaging view of children. Coming from a social worker, that's rather disturbing.
Hmmmm...one must wonder what would happen if someone were to lodge a complaint against Lachowicz, alleging that her comments compromise her ability to effectively provide services to *all* children. It seems to me that I have heard something about a similar sort of complaint originating from the other end of the political spectrum. Ahem.
Would it even be investigated? After all, Rs control the executive branch, at least nominally.
comment not working
She's deleting all comments that are even remotely negative.
1:00 AMAnother View: Candidate: GOP tries to hide record with fantasy-game charges
By COLLEEN LACHOWICZ
.... it's surprising to see the Maine GOP launch a childish attack against me for playing online video games. They cherry-picked comments I made as a private citizen in an online game -- some of which are seven years old. And, they took them out of context in order to paint me in an unfair light. They are desperate to distract us from the issues that really matter -- and their failed record. Instead, they want to mock me. I won't stand for that kind of bullying.
Yeah, sure, Colleen.
"Unfair light"? "Cherry pick"? Yeah -- somebody MADE her write nasty, horrible, obscene comments online. Sure.
Dear Ms. Lachowicz - why did you post obscene, vicious comments online about Governor LePage, other public officials, and Republicans? How about the comment in which you claimed to be "seriously slacking off" at work? Do you think such things display good judgment?
I don't care how many online games you play. That's your privilege. However, I do think you should exercise more maturity and good judgment in your public, online activities; particularly since you're in a position of trust with regard to school children.
Your online comments indicate a lack of the maturity and qualities necessary for elected office. This is further evidenced by your blog page, on which you deleted any questions from Maine residents regarding your obscene and vicious online statements. You deleted at least two of mine.
If you cannot deal with dissension on a blog page, how would you ever deal with the State House? Maine needs mature, rational legislators; not people who refuse to even respond to citizen questions.
Very poor show, Ms. Lachowicz.
I would assume that if it as an online game then it is also public.
She made her irresponsible statements on public websites, not inside a game, which was also public, but she hid her identity by not using her name. But it wasn't hidden very well and her identity was revealed. See http://www.colleensworld.com/ and follow the links to the sources.
When you play on the tracks you get hit by the train. Instead of whining about the train, I have some advice for Colleen: GET OFF THE TRACKS.
Lachowicz wants us to think she's been railroaded.
Poor, poor "victim." Malarkey Deluxe.
My child knew better than to write such things online at age 12.
Lachowicz needs to stay home until she learns how to behave in public.
Maybe she could strike up an on-line thing with Ben Herman, since the du Houx-Hooey idea didn't play out.
ewv, well-played (assuming you were taggingo onto my post)......lol
Yes, I was tracking it.
More of the double standard and liberal hypocrisy .... remember how the press crucified Sarah Palin for using the term in the the cross hairs......
The difference is that Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh and others who were falsely accused of promoting violence were not and did not say anything suggesting killing anyone. Lachowicz explicitly blogged that she specifically wanted to "hunt down" and "drown" Grover Norquist because of his advocacy of lowering taxes. And of course she does want to and does not deny it. But she knows she can't and maintains it as one of her fantasies. The left thinks that such desires are justified by their political agenda but don't want that discussed in public.
When called on it she claims her statement was taken "out of context" from a "game". But it wasn't part of a game, she blogged it, and it is only "out of the context" of what she wants people to know about her, not a change in the context of what she meant and intended.
All of their lying, evasion and application of different standards is worse than hypocrisy and double standards.
Here is another example of the lefts' worse than double standard on "violence": While Lachowicz and her apologists are openly fantasizing killing people in political assassinations, the viro left is now trying to censor as "pornography" publications on guns and on self defense, which are claimed to have "lurid, pro-violence content":

IAPCAR DENOUNCES TREATMENT
OF GUN PUBLICATIONS AS PORN
BELLEVUE, WA – The International Association for the Protection of Civilian Arms Rights (IAPCAR) denounced a changed in policy by the British book store W.H. Smith to now treat hunting and self-defense publications featuring guns the same as pornography.
Even though youngsters under the new age requirement are permitted to hold a shotgun license, W.H. Smith’s new policy bans legitimate self-defense and hunting publications from young people under 14-years-old. The new policy also requires the purchaser show identification to purchase the magazines the same as they require for the purchase of pornography.
The new policy was backed by a group called Animal Aid, Britain's largest “animal rights” organization. Among other beliefs, the group clams in one of its own reports that "lurid, pro-violence content" of the country's shooting sports magazines could have a "corrosive, long-lasting effect on impressionable young minds."
IAPCAR executive director Philip Watson denounced the store’s policy.
“Clearly this store is allowing itself to be governed by a fringe group,” Watson said. “There is no legitimate proof that censorship like this will improve a youngster’s understanding of gun safety, or self-defense and hunting. In fact, I think it will probably have the opposite effect.”
“The fact that youngsters under the age requirement to purchase these publications are permitted to license a shotgun outlines the stupidity of this new rule,” Watson concluded.
“A parent has an obligation to educate their children about the use of firearms,” added IAPCAR Co-Founder Julianne Versnel. “As a mother and gun owner, I am offended that publications about self-defense, target shooting, or hunting are being treated as pornography.”
Exactly, EWV. The liberal party must hand out goggles that block out certain abilities to think and perceive reality in a balanced and logical fashion.
For all the power they have grabbed they still don't dare state explicitly in public what they are and the full nature of the coercive and violent form of government they intend to impose. Not in this country, not yet. They don't dare openly acknowledge that their "fundamental change" means statism replacing American individualism and the original American system of limited government whose purpose was to protect the rights and freedom of the individual, not dictate what people can do under massive social controls.
A free society depends on and protects individuals using their own minds to rationally make choices. That is the opposite of brute force. A government based on coercive controls cannot tolerate and never has been able to tolerate people having access to knowledge the government doesn't want them to have. Such a government requires thought control in order to survive.
Lachowicz is violent down to the roots of her resentful social worker soul. It's no wonder that she doesn't want people to know it, regarding it as "out of context" from the phony image she is trying to portray.
Lachowicz about her fantasy games: “That means I stab things…a lot… Who would have thought that a peace-lovin’, social worker and democrat would enjoy that?!”
Who can expect that an egalitarian nihilist progressive who constantly pushes for coercive government social controls would not enjoy it, along with all the fantasies about killing their political enemies in reality?
Would you consider changing Alter Ego in title to "Avatar?" To close for comfort by far.
Why? The title is now confirmed accurate in yet another sense: "Colleen Lachowicz's disturbing Alter Ego". Isn't it true that she's disturbing you? Colleen Lachowicz's disturbing a lot of people.
Chuckle. Simply meant keep thinking thread about me or to me.
