California is no longer a democracy

California slouches towards Gomorrah...

Free speech? That's not for them!

And that's on top of an electoral system that has eliminated non-dems from even being on ballots. Who need Gerrymandering when you can just edit the ballot?

The totalitarian state that believes it is compassionate and caring. Wonder how those homeless feel about living on the Elite's lawns... if the Elite didn't intend for them to live on someone else's lawns. ;-)

It most certainly is if you

It most certainly is if you define democracy as it should be defined as "mob rule".

Perhaps the Ranked Choice

Perhaps the Ranked Choice voting is just another permutation of this, intended to winnow the candidates to those "approved" and eliminate any other possible choices.

The "Puppet Mastery" analysis I posted previously outlined how running slates of candidates instead of just one can be used to manipulate the balloting to eliminate "undesired" choices. This is similar to running several cars in one race, and using the extra cars to block other potential winners.

California is using the primaries to do just that... eliminate all other parties. When on party can put 2 candidates up both of which can garner at least 33%, the result is a general election ballot with only one party. This totally ignores the will of all other voters, any protest vote, and the shifts in voter's minds that can occur during a campaign. It's as anti-democratic as anything can get.

Is this what Ranked Choice is intended to do in Maine?

Soon California will

Soon California will demonstrate what can happen if you get it wrong.

The statement that the Dems "ran too many candidates" in some races does suggest that "gaming" is underway. This is not about letting your voice be heard, it's about ensuring the desired result in spite of your voice.
