Only in Maine... Governor doesn't want a 5 cent hike, so they give him 50.
Profits are way up, so lets gouge the consumer some more.

If your monopolized utility did it, the state would step right in.

One more reason people headed to NH...

I think the main consumers of nips are alcoholics who need a couple cinnamon shots to get through the day until 12-pack 5'oclock rolls around.

No, real alcoholics buy in bulk. The consumers of these are teenage kids having a sip on chairlifts and the like. (Though I asked my stepson who worked at Rite Aid for a year, he says he never saw anyone buy them.)

These stupid cinnamon nip

These stupid cinnamon nip bottles litter the landscape in this working-class town. I'm always picking the things up in my driveway, and on the side of the road, and they're all over the parking lots. Seem to be a lunch-time pasttime, or maybe they are tossed down in cars where they can be chucked out the windows.

I'll bet those cinnamon nips are not far behind Allen's in gross dollar sales.

Although, as a "cheap" recovering alcoholic, I'd never buy those little dinky nips. Not enough bang for the buck.

But I know plenty of drunks who do stock up on the things. Seems more of a maintenance-through-the-day thing. Who knows, maybe it's one guy chucking them all over the place.

To each his own, I guess.

The price hike won't stop the consumers anymore than the price increases on tobacco stopped smokers. The legislature just voted to increase the legal age to purchase tobacco products to 18..LePage vetoed it....they'll probably over ride his veto....BUT once again they outlawed the purchase by those younger than 21 ,but not smoking or chewing it.....making retailers the states policemen one more time.....In both cases those close to Nh will travel there ......Augusta is like a well spring of dumb....

A group I belong to adopts a road each year and clean it up. The nip bottles are all over the road in huge numbers. It used to be empty whipped cream cans which were huffed out for their gas but now....nips galore.

Really? I thought you had to grow up during the disco era to get into nitrous oxide. Whipped cream cans? When was that?

Seems like an expensive way to get a buzz. I wonder if they were shoplifted.

Disco era - yup. I first

Disco era - yup. I first heard of huffing readi-whip cans when I was at the University of Idaho on exchange in 1978. A couple mensa students from the college (sarcasm filter off) got caught at the local grocery store trying it out - they didn't do it right and ended up looking like a couple of snowmen when the whipped cream went all over them - no nitrous for you!

Whip-its made a minor

Whip-its made a minor resurgence with the 90's hippie scene. "Hippie Crack" as they were known.

Nowadays, kids have access to decriminalized pot, no need to kill brain cells with Nitrous.
