Sheriff Joe is just the appetizer. I honestly can't wait until he pardons Flynn!
It's like Festivus every day!
Confounds the science
A brief look at the Obama and Clinton pardonees will help you get over it.
This is nothing more than blocking a leftist character assault - the left thinks anyone who disagrees with them is automatically a criminal.
Nothing racist in obama's release and virtual pardon of Gitmo detainees.....
It's not like they hate Jews,Christians, gays and women........they're just misunderstood....
I hear many have had their mothers interviewed, and most say "he was just turning his life around when he made the mistake of associating with others who were a bad influence on him."
Would it surprise you that Gerald Fords pardon of Richard Nixon took place but was meaningless except to remove the stigma attached to his actions regarding Watergate. A pardon is official removal of a conviction for a crime. Richard Nixon was never convicted of a crime as were those who actually committed the break-in. As a matter of fact he was never even charged.
If you examine all of the pardons given by Presidents in the past you will probably find that were given to persons who actually committed crimes, were charged and found guilty and served time. Joe Arpayo did not commit a crime. He defied a judges unconstitutional order. The government however, commits a crime each time they illegally search and in some cases confiscate items from those boarding airline flights. Under the Constitution it is illegal search and seizure when performed without probable cause and without a search warrant.
Stopping people on the street and asking them to prove they are in this country legally is not search and seizure and is an exercise authorized every police officer who has sworn to uphold the Constitution of the United States. Statistics would show that few Caucasians or African Americans are in this country illegally so it is only logical if you were looking for someone here illegally in Arizona, you would be wasting your time stopping them and concentrate on those of Hispanic origin. In California you would have to add those of Asian origin.
If we want to stop illegal immigration we would do well to punish those who employ them more severely by actually enforcing the laws and increasing the penalties for those who hire them. These are laws already on the books but not being enforced by your own government and I need not tell you why, you are smart enough to figure it out. Just follow the money.
If The Donald pardons hilarity will everything be honkydory with the left....?
No need for a pardon.
According to the left, shedidndonuffin.
The point that all you incredibly insightful people are missing is that pardons (by the left and the right) are almost always viewed negatively by people, even among supporters.
The Arpaio pardon was clearly an ass kissing move by Trump to shore up his base but I think his supporters would rather have the laws that convicted him change rather than have the office of the President override those laws.
Then again, I could be wrong...
The point that less insightful people fail to realize is that all presidential pardons in the past have been given for people who have committed felonies, been convicted and sentenced to prison. Arpayo committed no crime but defied a judges unlawful order which is not a crime. In this case you see the strong arm of government at work, making sure that something they don't want done is punished. The government wants more immigration, not out of pity for those trying to earn a living which they cannot do in their own country, but to provide cheap workers for the businesses that donate to keep them in office. They also provide customers for other businesses.
See AC all your doing is using this as another means to take a shot at Trump.
The cold hard facts are there is no use in analyzing pardons ,other than your analysis
because there is probably absolutely nothing one can do about one.
I'm not taking a shot at Trump, merely pointing out that they usually have a negative impact on the president that does the pardoning. (Which is why they usually do them as lame ducks, so there's no future political consequence).
Hell if The Donald gets this much grief about a pardon he should given him a medal to go with it.........
pass out some medals, plenty of those around. obama and gore got the Nobel peace prize, joey got the presidential medal of freedom.....have a look at that one:
Give the obama pardons a quick look at this site:
If you quick scan through the 41 pages of pardons look for pardons for the distribution of: marijuana, heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine, controlled substance, and maybe wonder why in the world did barack pardon all those drug dealers.
You have pardons and you have commutations. The site above lists the 554 pages of commutations by obama. Have a quick look at the site and scan for the words; marijuana, heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine, controlled substance, and maybe wonder why in the world did obama commute the sentences of all those drug dealers.
If I were President I would have done the same thing. The government, State or Federal has no Constitutional authority to ban anything except theft of life, liberty or property. Therefore the arrest, conviction and incarceration of drug dealers is not within the powers invested in government. Most will not remember what happened when the government prohibited the manufacture, sale and distribution of alcohol. I did nothing to reduce alcoholism but it unleashed an era of crime that stopped only when the government recognized the ridiculousness of its actions. It wisely did not repeat the process when it came to tobacco and in fact benefitted by the actions taken to reduce consumption by raising the tax on tobacco. That lesson will not work with drugs because they can be produced more cheaply outside the country in the case of marijuana and in California and Colorado where it has been legalized resulting in farmers converting to marijuana production as opposed to food.
The irony is that we, the stupid people, continue to return to power those who continue to make these colossal blunders.
